Mar 2022: SABN Lions Club participates in the Stride for Sight 5K

Mar 2022: SABN Lions Club participates in the Stride for Sight 5K

In March, our San Antonio Bexar Necessities Lions Club participated in the Stride for Sight 5K: “Saving Sight, Changing Lives.” The goal of the Stride for Sight 5K was to raise funds that encourage regular healthy vision practices for adults and children, educate and inspire the community about the Gift of Sight that can be given through cornea donation, and build support for individuals in need of other services.

Our club had an amazing turnout with a team of 14 club members and friends who united together in support and remembrance of local cornea donors who gave the ultimate gift of sight. Prior to the 5K, all race participates joined together in a bubble release to express hope to those who are in need of cornea transplants, as well as those whom rely on no-cost vision exams and those in need of the services provided by a guide dog.

Congratulations to our team member and club friend, Dominic Alonzo, who came in with the fastest run time and crossed the finish line at 19:25.

"The event was great! I am grateful for the support we received from our club members and friends," said Club President Jai Merchant. "We look forward to making this 5K a yearly tradition and hope to see our team grow in March 2023."
