Leading the Charge in Visionary Service
Ann Islas, the President of the San Antonio Bexar Necessities Lions Club, stands as a beacon of hope and leadership, embarking on a journey of service that extends far beyond the city's borders.
With a steadfast commitment to making a difference in the lives of others, Ann has recently assumed two significant roles that reflect her unwavering dedication and passion for service.
Firstly, Ann has been appointed as the District Chair for Childhood Cancer, a role that holds immense significance in addressing one of the most pressing challenges facing our community's youngest members. Through her leadership, Ann aims to expand access to life-saving treatment and provide crucial support to children and families battling childhood cancer.
But Ann's influence doesn't stop there. She has also been voted onto the Board of Directors of the Lions Sight Research Foundation (LSRF), a pioneering organization dedicated to advancing sight research and preventing blindness. Founded in 1982 as the District 2-A2 Lions Sight and Tissue Foundation, the LSRF operates as an independent, non-profit, charitable Texas corporation with a crucial 501(c)(3) classification.
Driven by a deep-seated commitment to addressing vision-related challenges, the LSRF has partnered with institutions like the University of Texas Health Science Center Department of Ophthalmology to establish groundbreaking initiatives such as the Lions Sight Research Center. This collaborative effort has paved the way for innovative research and prevention strategies in the fight against blindness.
As Ann assumes her role on the Board of Directors of the LSRF, she brings with her a wealth of experience and a vision for furthering the foundation's impact. With her leadership, the LSRF is poised to continue its legacy of achievement, pioneering new avenues of research, and innovation in the quest to preserve vision for generations to come.
