Oct 2022: SABN Lions Club wraps up October!
The month of October flew by before we could get anything posted about our activities.
We had 3 service projects for the month and really enjoyed the time spent together helping the community.
First up a few of our members got together to answer the call to service from the Lions Mobile Sight Unit team as they took the bus out to do sight screenings at the San Fernando Health Fair on Saturday, October 1st. We helped get the staging area ready and set up some of the vision screening machines, and our Lion Martin Padron Jr. spent some time translating to the Spanish speaking patients. It was great to meet Lions form other clubs and get to talk to them about their service projects.
On October 22, 2022, a group of us helped our fellow Lions Club member Adrie Vasquez with her annual fundraiser, The Red and White Ball, which raises money for the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center. Some of our members volunteered during the day to help with set up of the event, and then another group volunteered in the evening during the actual event by selling raffle tickets and directing attendees. It was a fabulous event. We are so proud of Adrie and all the work she puts into this event! We can’t wait to do it again next year.
Our last event of the month was super fun! We were asked by the Texas Adoption Agency to host a booth at their Fall Festival on Saturday, October 29, 2022. We dressed in costume and handed out candy to over 300 kids as part of the festival. Our booth started out with a Spin to Win game, but within an hour we were out of prizes because there were so many attendees and the parents wanted to spin too. It was a busy 3 hours, but we loved seeing all the kids dressed up and enjoyed talking to their parents and other vendors in attendance. We were lucky enough to be also have Marsil Padron , Queen of the Morelos Coahuila Lions Club from Mexico volunteer at our booth. Thank you Marsil for giving your time so generously!
The San Antonio Bexar Necessities Lions Club members have been busy! We definitely let our service roar this month. Now to get ready for our November projects…the fun never stops.
