Aug 2022: Treats for Teachers Supply Drive
When you reflect on your many years of schooling, everyone always looks to the impact teachers have had on their lives. There are always those special moments that leave an everlasting imprint on our future selves. Teachers constantly give, from school supplies paid from their own pocket to the simplest aspect of time, love, and energy.
This August our club decided to give back by partnering with our local elementary school. We wanted to show our appreciation to all the hard working and dedicated teachers by creating a “Treats for Teachers” celebration. We thought we could shine a light on teachers of Evelyn Scarborough Elementary by providing them with their favorite snacks, treats, and back up school supplies.
To accomplish this goal, we set up a booth on Saturday August 13th at the Shaenfield Neighborhood Market to have our community donate treats, school supplies, or monetary donations. Thank you to all our family, friends, and community for helping make this event successful.
Special thank you to:
• Grace Pavilion Community Outreach (GPCO), who we recently partnered with for our June project, for donating 24 packets of school supplies.
• Bird Bakery for the generous donation of over 300 cupcakes and mini cupcakes that energized over 100 teachers, administrators, and staff as they began their first day of the new academic year.
• Alamo Ranch Pop Up Market for coordinating a pickup location for our supply drive at no cost to the club.
• SAINA (San Antonio Indian Nurses Association) for their continued and ongoing monetary support.
Overall, we had a total of 718 items donated with a total value of $1,958! All our monetary donations were utilized to purchase more snacks, cleaning supplies, school supplies, and a break room coffee machine. Again, thank you so much to everyone assisting in this supply drive. We hope this donation helps kick off a spectacular 2022-2023 academic year. And let’s not forget, TEACHERS ROCK!
