Jun 2022: SABN Lions Club volunteers at the 2022 Corporate Cup

Jun 2022: SABN Lions Club volunteers at the 2022 Corporate Cup

June is here and the San Antonio Bexar Necessities Lions Club is off to a great start with our first service project of the month! Several of our club members were joined by friends and family to volunteer at the San Antonio Sports Foundation's Annual Corporate Cup.

The Corporate Cup is an annual premier health and wellness event that combines friendly competition, team camaraderie, athletic skills, and charitable giving to produce a Corporate Cup champion. Our group of volunteers was in charge of facilitating the Hula Hoop Competition, which the competitors take very seriously with some competitors hula hooping for up to 30 minutes. We had loads of fun watching and cheering them on!

"The Corporate Cup is a huge undertaking for the San Antonio Sports Foundation, so our group of volunteers were happy to help and be part of this event that brings together San Antonio-based businesses and organizations to build community through friendly competition," said Club Vice President Ann Islas. As a Lions Club, we are empowered to bring club members, volunteers, and partners together to improve health and well-being, strengthened communities, and support those in need. "We wanted to be part of this event because the money raised from the Corporate Cup is used to provide sports and fitness programs for the youth of our community, especially those who are underserved."

Corporate Cup staff member, Jerry Cantu, is ready for next year's event and said he hopes we'll be back to volunteer. We will take that offer and plan on returning with more volunteers!

Now to get ready for our next June service project, Centro San Antonio's Family Pride Day on Sunday, June 28th at Madison Park. Hope to see everyone come together to celebrate Pride month and show support for our LGBTQ+ community.
