PRESS RELEASE: 3rd Annual Treats for Teachers

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS - The San Antonio Bexar Necessities Lions Club (SABN Lions Club) is proud to announce the return of its unique Treats for Teachers collection, designed specifically with our hardworking teachers in mind. Acknowledging the often-overlooked needs of teachers, the club has initiated this special annual collection to ensure that teachers have the necessary supplies for a successful academic year.

Selected by last year’s recipient school, Martha Mead Elementary in Northside ISD, this year’s supplies will benefit a new recipient school chosen by Martha Mead Elementary.

Last year, thanks to the unwavering support of our dedicated members and the incredible community, we raised $1,250 worth of supplies and snacks for Martha Mead Elementary. This year, we aim to raise even more for the 2024 recipient school.

The Treats for Teachers collection is unlike any other school supply drive, focusing solely on the needs and contributions of teachers. Frequently, students are the primary beneficiaries of school supply drives, but the SABN Lions Club recognizes the importance of empowering teachers with the tools they require.

A key component of this initiative is to alleviate the financial burden often carried by teachers, who regularly pay out of pocket to ensure their students have the essential supplies. The donated supplies will create a reserve for teachers to pull from when students run out, eliminating the need for teachers to dig into their own pockets.

Additionally, the SABN Lions Club is going beyond classroom needs, acknowledging that teachers, like everyone else, appreciate a quick snack during their breaks. Therefore, part of the collection will focus on stocking teachers’ break rooms with a variety of snacks, creating an enjoyable space for them to relax and recharge during their hard-earned breaks.
