Jul 2022: SABN Lions Club volunteers at the GPCO Back 2 School Bash
In July, the San Antonio Bexar Necessities Lions Club was joined by family and friends to help volunteer at a Health Fair and 4th Annual Back 2 School Bash on July 23rd hosted by Grace Pavilion Community Outreach (GPCO). Grace Pavilion Community Outreach believes in sharing God’s love through the expansion of services in the community. The GPCO is an organization full of individuals that are compassionate and have a big heart for service which is something our club has in common.
The Health Fair provided health screenings for the community, such as mammograms, vaccinations, wellness checks, checked BMI, blood and sugar, and blood pressure. It also provided dental and eye screenings along with HIV/AIDS testing.
The 4th Annual Back 2 School Bash handed out school supplies and backpacks to children in the community to help with the upcoming school year. The school supplies and backpacks were separated into three groups; Pre-K to Kindergarten, 1st to 5th Grade, and 6th to 12th Grade.
Our group of volunteers were in charge of the San Antonio Food Bank distribution form and handing out bags of vegetables to families. Despite the summer heat, the event had a great turn out, many families were helped with setting up their children for a successful academic year, and making sure everyone was in good health. As usual, our club had a wonderful time serving our community.
